Saturday 6th February: Carnival at Villa Monastero

On Saturday 6th February the Province of Lecco, in collaboration with Comune di Varenna, presents the traditional Carnival at Villa Monastero.

At 2.30 pm the Carnival parade will start from the Ferry Terminal in Varenna and, passing through the historical centre, will reach Villa Monastero, where the children will take part in an original Carnival Treasure Hunt, discovering the botanical patrimony and the decorations of the Garden.

In the Masks Lab, very appreciated in the past editions, all the children will have the possibility to express their imagination creating and painting their own paper masks.

The participants in the Treasure Hunt will receive a special diploma and the afternoon will end with the award ceremony for the funniest and most original masks.

Finally, Comune di Varenna and ProVarenna will offer everybody chiacchiere and hot chocolate.

For this special event the access to the Garden of Villa Monastero will be free.

Waiting for the official opening of the next season – the President Flavio Polano says – the Province of Lecco will open the doors of Villa Monastero for the traditional Carnival event, dedicated in particular to the children and their families; a special occasion to enjoy themselves discovering the patrimony of the Botanical Garden”.

Villa Monastero will reopen to the public on Tuesday 1st March. In March the Botanical Garden will be open every day from 10 am to 5 pm, the House Museum will be open on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Festive days from 10 am to 5 pm too.
